Petroleum Products

Based on the composition of crude oil and the market’s needs, refineries may create different percentages of petroleum-based products. The most significant portion of oil products is utilized as “energy carriers”, i.e. different kinds of fuel oil and gasoline. They can be combined to create jet fuel, gasoline heating oil, diesel fuel and more heavy fuel oils. The more serious (less volatile) fractions are also used to produce asphalt, tar, paraffin wax, lubricating, and other rich oils. The refineries also make other chemicals; some are used in chemical processes to create plastics and other valuable materials. Since petroleum typically comprises some sulfur-containing molecules, elemental sulfur is often made as an oil product. As a result of petroleum coke and hydrogen, carbon is also produced as petroleum-based products. The hydrogen produced is often used as an intermediate product for other oil refineries processes, such as hydrocracking and hydrodesulfurization.

It is a fact that oil is an essential resource. More than 6,000 different products are produced from petroleum waste by-products, including fertilizer flooring (flooring), perfume, pesticides, petroleum jelly soap vitamins, and some vital amino acids.
